The project
What else might a recital hold?
A recital program does not have to begin with familiarity.
Silent Resonances began with a simple experiment: to build a program around music that many listeners—and perhaps many performers—may never have encountered before.
The project brings voices from different eras into the same space.
Some works may draw a listener back for another hearing; others may awaken someone’s curiosity—to seek out a score, learn about a composer, or continue exploring voices not yet heard.
Women composers have long been overlooked in music history. That is a reality we cannot ignore. Yet we do not want to decide in advance that listeners must value a work simply because it was written by a woman, or because its composer was overlooked.
Our invitation is to listen first.
For a moment, set aside the labels of name, gender, and history, and let music come before judgment. Listening may awaken curiosity, connection, or even doubt; or perhaps a work will simply find a place in our memory.
We hope to make a genuine encounter possible, without expecting everyone to reach the same conclusion. To give voices that once had too few opportunities to be heard a renewed chance—to be heard, to be felt, and to be judged freely.
